Comments OffAbout Pet Adoption
Pet adoption is usually the process of taking care and responsibility for a pet that the previous owner has abandoned or released to animal shelter.
Places where pets can be adopted are animal shelters, rescue groups, stray pets, advertisements that have been placed, where the owner is trying to find a new home for the pet and online pet adoption, which is becoming a fast growing resource to find a pet.
Pets are taken into shelters for various reasons:
· These can be breeding, where a backyard breeder has produced to many dogs and are unable to find them homes.
· When and owner dies and there is no one to take care of the pet, the pet is usually taken to a shelter.
· When an owners circumstances change and they can no longer take care of the pet.
· Someone who has purchased a pet on a whim and has had second thoughts, this usually happens over Christmas.
· When a pet becomes lost and cannot find its way home.
· When the original owners are moving over seas and cannot take their pet.
· If the owner develops a pet allergy, the pet is taken to a shelter. The main issue for shelters is whether the people who want to adopt the pet can provide the animal with a safe and suitable home. Shelters can refuse to let people adopt pets if they don’t think they can provide for what the animal needs.
